Getting started

Adding your first feed

Tap Feeds in the top right of the Unread tab, then the + button. You can paste a site's normal address — example.com works, you don't need to hunt for the feed URL. Tidings finds the feed for you. YouTube channel URLs work too.

Bringing feeds from another reader

Export an OPML file from your old reader, then in Tidings go to Settings → Import OPML. To take your subscriptions elsewhere, use Export OPML on the same screen — they're yours.

Reading and triage

In the reader, the toolbars hide as you read and come back when you scroll up. Swipe from the left edge to go back. Text size and typeface are in the ••• menu.

Common questions

An article shows a summary instead of the full text

Some sites are paywalled or block extraction; Tidings shows the feed's summary and a Read on site link. You can also try Redownload Article from the press-and-hold menu.

A feed says "Not updating"

The publisher's server returned an error on the last few refreshes. Open Feeds to see the reason and tap Retry. If it persists, the feed URL may have moved.

Does my reading sync between devices?

Yes, if iCloud Sync is on (Settings → iCloud Sync). Your feeds and reading state sync through your own private iCloud database. Cached article text and images stay on each device. Changing the setting takes effect the next time you launch the app.

What does Premium change?

Only one thing: the free version holds up to 10 feeds, and Tidings Premium removes that limit. It's a single payment, includes Family Sharing, and everything else — the reader, offline articles, iCloud sync, YouTube feeds, OPML import and export — is free either way.

I already bought Premium but a new device doesn't show it

Tap Restore Purchase in Settings, signed in with the same Apple Account.

How do I delete everything?

Settings → Delete All Data removes every feed, article, and cached file from the device — and, if sync is on, from your private iCloud database as well. It can't be undone.
