Tidings · Last updated 31 July 2026
Tidings is an RSS reader that runs entirely on your device. It collects no data about you. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. The developer has no server and cannot see what you read.
Everything the app knows lives on your device: the feeds you subscribe to, the articles it downloads, which ones you've read, starred, or saved for later, your settings, and cached article text and images for offline reading.
If you enable iCloud sync, your feeds and reading state sync through your own private iCloud database so your devices stay in step. This uses Apple's CloudKit private database, which is tied to your Apple Account. The developer has no access to it and no ability to read its contents. Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Cached article content and images stay local to each device and are never synced.
The app only contacts servers to do what you asked it to:
As with any web browser, the servers you fetch from can see your IP address and the request itself. Those publishers are third parties with their own privacy practices, and the developer has no relationship with them or visibility into those requests. The app contacts no servers of its own, because there are none.
Tidings is free for up to 10 feeds. If you buy Tidings Premium, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple — the app never sees or stores your payment details, and no account is created. The app asks Apple's on-device StoreKit whether this Apple Account owns Premium, and that answer never leaves your device.
Deleting the app removes everything stored on that device. Note that if iCloud sync is on, deleting the app does not erase your iCloud data — it stays in your private database, and reinstalling syncs it back.
To erase everything, use Settings → Delete All Data in the app. With sync on, this removes your feeds, articles, and cached files from the device and your private iCloud database; your other devices clear the next time they sync. This can't be undone.
The app collects no data from anyone, including children.
