Terms of Use

Free!bird Last updated: 6 August 2026

By downloading or using Free!bird (“the app”) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Not financial advice

This is the most important term here.

Free!bird is a calculator. It produces projections from assumptions you supply — growth rates, inflation, spending, life expectancy — combined with simplified federal tax modelling and historical market data.

It is not financial, investment, tax, retirement or legal advice, and it is not a recommendation to take or avoid any action. We are not your financial adviser, broker or fiduciary, and no advisory relationship is created by using the app.

Retirement decisions are consequential and depend on circumstances the app does not know about. Consult a qualified professional before acting.

2. Projections are not predictions

Every figure the app shows is a projection, not a forecast and not a promise.

You are responsible for any decision you make. We accept no liability for outcomes arising from use of the app.

3. Your data

The app stores your information on your device and transmits none of it. See the Privacy Policy.

Keeping your own backups is up to you. Deleting the app deletes its data, and we cannot recover it because we never had it.

4. Subscription

Premium is an auto-renewing annual subscription sold through the App Store.

The subscription funds continued maintenance, including annual updates to the bundled tax tables and market history data.

5. Free tier

The free tier is a complete plan, not a trial: projection to life expectancy, the earliest-retirement date, the full historical test, and two saved plans. We may change what the tiers include in future versions.

6. Third-party data

Market history is derived from Robert J. Shiller’s long-run US series, published at shillerdata.com. Neither Professor Shiller nor any affiliate guarantees its accuracy or completeness, and none is a registered investment adviser. Tax brackets are derived from published IRS tables.

We take reasonable care in preparing this data and do not warrant that it is free of error.

7. Acceptable use

Do not reverse-engineer, decompile or redistribute the app, except where that right cannot be excluded by law.

8. No warranty

The app is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it is error-free or that its calculations are accurate.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, savings, or investment losses, arising from your use of the app.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so they may not apply to you.

10. Changes

These terms may change. Material changes will be reflected in an updated version of this document, and continued use after that constitutes acceptance.

11. Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the app. Apple is a third-party beneficiary and may enforce these terms against you.
